Objectives

To perform biodegradation assays of newly synthesized PFASs and potential PFASs precursors in closed bottle systems, analysis of degradation products; synthesis (together with Merck) of potential biodegradable PFASs and testing biodegradation thereof.

Planned secondment(s):

Merck/Friedrich (M8, 12w and M25, 4w) for training on synthesis of novel PFASs. UvA/KWR/Droge/ter Laak (M16, 12w): Method development for analysis of volatile degradation products in air and microbial adaptation and degradation studies. 1-day visits to a wastewater treatment facility (Svenskt Vatten; M12 after ATC3) and UFZ/Berger (after ATC6 in M24).
